Introduction area of a rectangular cube

Introduction area of a rectangular cube

Surface area is the measure of how much exposed area a solid object has, expressed in square units. Mathematical description of the surface area is considerably more involved than the definition of arc length of a curve. For the surface area is the sum of the areas of its faces. Smooth surfaces, such as a sphere, are assigned surface area using their representation as parametric surfaces.

Problems for Area of a Rectangular Cube:

Problem 1

Find surface area of the rectangular cube, length of the rectangular cube is 12, width of the rectangular cube is 14 and height of the rectangular cube is 16

Solution

The formula for surface area of the rectangular cube = 2(lw+wh+hl)

Where

L = length of the rectangular cube
w = width of the rectangular cube
h = height of the rectangular cube
surface area of the rectangular cube = 2 * (12 * 14 +  14 * 16 + 16 * 12)

=288 + 448 + 384

=1120mm^2

Answer

surface area of the rectangular cube = 1120 mm^2

Problem 2

Find surface area of the rectangular cube, length of the rectangular cube is 22, width of the rectangular cube is 24 and height of the rectangular cube is 36

Having problem with Volume of a Rectangular Pyramid keep reading my upcoming posts, i will try to help you.

Solution

The formula for surface area of the rectangular cube =  2(lw+wh+hl)

Where

L = length of the rectangular cube
w = width of the rectangular cube
h = height of the rectangular cube
surface area of the rectangular cube = 2 * (22 * 24 + 24 * 36 +  36 * 22)

=1056 + 1728 + 1584

=4368 mm^2

Answer

surface area of the rectangular cube = 4368 mm^2

Problem 3

Find surface area of the rectangular cube, length of the rectangular cube is 15, width of the rectangular cube is 14 and height of the rectangular cube is 18

Solution

The formula for surface area of the rectangular cube = 2(lw+wh+hl)

Where

L = length of the rectangular cube
w = width of the rectangular cube
h = height of the rectangular cube
surface area of the rectangular cube = 2 * (15 * 14 + 14 * 18 +  18 * 15)

=420 + 504 + 540

=1464mm^2

Answer

surface area of the rectangular cube = 1464 mm^2
