Formula for Volume of a Triangular Prism

Introduction about the formula for volume of a triangular prism:

Normally triangular prism is nothing but a polyhedral which is having the base as triangle. Here we are going to find the volume of the triangular prism. Volume is nothing nut the apace occupied by the 3 dimensional figures. Here we are taking the 3 dimensional figures as triangular prism. We are having the formula to find the volume of a triangular prism. We will see some example problems for finding the volume of the triangular prism.

Formula for Volume of a Triangular Prism:

This is a triangular prism. Normally for a triangle we are having the base and height. Here we are having an extra quantity length. So it is a three dimensional figure. So using these base length, height and length we can find the volume of the triangular prism.

Formula for volume of a triangular prism = (`1 / 2` ) base `xx`  height `xx`  length

This is the formula for finding the volume. We will see some example problems using this formula.

Examples for Volume of a Triangular Prism:

Example 1:

Find the volume of the given triangular prism.

Solution:

From the figure we know the base length of the triangular prism is 6 cm and the height of the triangular prism is 2 cm and the length of the triangular prism is 9 cm.

We know the volume of the triangular prism formula is (`1 / 2` ) `xx`  base `xx`  height `xx`  length

So volume = (`1 / 2` ) 6 `xx` 2 `xx` 9

V = 54 cm3

Example 2:

The base length of the triangular prism is 10m, height of the prism is 5 m and the length of the triangular prism is 7 m. Find the volume of the required triangular prism.

Solution:

From the above we know the base length of the triangular prism is 10 m and the height of the triangular prism is 5 m and the length of the triangular prism is 7 m.

We know the volume of the triangular prism formula is (`1 / 2` ) `xx` base X height `xx` length

So volume = (`1 / 2` ) 10 `xx` 5 `xx` 7

V = 175 m3
