To find the percentage change increasing or decreasing the following steps are used

Step 1: Find the variation or changes in the value

Step 2: Divide by the original value that is the value before increasing or decreasing value

Step 3: Multiplying the value by 100%

Percentage increase = changes in value   x  100%
original value

Find out what is the percentage increase from 30 to 45.5?

Solution:

Increase = 45.5 – 30 = 15.5

Increased percentage = 51.6%

Find out what is the percentage decrease from 45 to 35.5?

Solution:

Decrease = 45 – 35.5 = 9.5

Percentage Decrease =   `9.5/45` x100

Decrease percentage = 21%

Example 3:

Last month, Joseph earned salary 700. This month he earned salary 1200. Find the how many percentage increase in his salary earnings.

Solution:

Increase salary = 1200 – 700 = 500

Percentage increase = `500/700` x100%= 71%

The salary earnings percentage increase is 71%.

Example 4:

Last month, Jessica earned salary 1200. This month she earned salary 800. Find the how many percentage decrease in her earnings salary.

Solution:

Decrease = 1200 – 800 = 400

Percentage decrease = `400/1200` x100%= 33%

The salary earnings percentage decrease is 33.33%.

Example 5:

Last month, Kim earned salary 3000. This month he get salary 1500. Find the how many percentage decrease in his earnings salary.

Solution:

Decrease = 3000 – 1500 = 1500

Percentage decrease = `1500/3000` x100%= 50%
